Giving Back to Your Community is Good For Business

According to a 2010 study by Cone Communications, 85% of consumers have a more positive image of a company when it supports a cause they care about. A positive reputation helps increase your bottom line as modern consumers are more likely to support a company with a good reputation. Charitable giving is an excellent way to improve your business reputation while promoting your business, products, and services in an unobtrusive way.

Charitable Giving is Excellent PR

Modern Consumers Like Companies that Give Back

In the same Cone Communications study, 90% of consumers want companies to tell them how they’re supporting charitable causes. Many businesses use their normal promotional venues to mention their favorite charities by adding statements such as “Proud Supporter of …” to business taglines on email, websites, and on social media postings on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest.

Of course, charitable giving is a great way to reduce how much you pay in taxes each year, but don’t make this the only reason you give!

You don’t have to necessarily spend hard earned cash in order to be charitable. Start small. A great place to start is with your employees. Try scheduling an annual volunteer day or a winter coat drive for your local homeless shelter. Anything is better than nothing, and you might be surprised by what you inspire through even just one, small charitable act.

The bottom line: Doing good through charitable giving is good for business!
